Our eyes have more than two million working parts, and approximately half the brain is engaged in the act of seeing.

They are the second most complex organ after the brain.

Eye muscles are the most active in the entire body, as well as the strongest (relative to their size).

Specific types of cells enable us to see shapes and colors, and while a fingerprint has 40 unique characteristics, an iris has 256.

Just as our eyes let in the light by which we see physical reality, only healthy spiritual eyes can able us to see spiritual reality clearly.

Matt. 6:22-23 says this:

“Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness.”

Our body finds its way through this life with the help of the eye.

So, in this sense, the eye is the lamp of the body.

A healthy eye admits light into the body, but an unhealthy eye leaves the body in darkness.

We maintain healthy spiritual eyes by having them focused on Christ through the Word.

Hebrews 12:1 says:

“Riveting our eyes on Jesus, the One who started our faith and the One who will bring it to maturity.”

We read this in Colossians 3:16:

“Let the word of Christ have its home in your hearts and minds and dwell in you in all its richness.”

An intimate walk with Christ through His Word gives us healthy spiritual eyes because He is the light.

Jesus declared:

“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12)

Psalm 18:28 reads:

“The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.”

The means of this light is the Word as indicated in Psalm 119:30:

“The teaching of your word gives light.”

If we have healthy spiritual eyes then we can consistently tap into His power to live victoriously in life.

The Apostle Paul states in Ephesians 1:18-20:

“… by having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints, and so that you can know and understand what is the immeasurable greatness of His power in who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places.”

Since we are already seated with Him in heavenly places (Eph. 2:6), we can claim His victory over sin, the world, and the devil, by faith in His resurrection power!

How healthy are your spiritual eyes?

Blessings!
