Have you ever been in a pitch black room so dark that you couldn’t even see your hand before your face?

Are you afraid of the dark?

Does your imagination conjure up all kinds of monsters?

I don’t know about you, but I prefer the light.

Light is important to our physical and mental well-being.

In the beginning, Adam and Eve were creatures of light, as they radiated God’s glory.

They were robed in His light, so much so that they did not need any other clothing.

When they sinned, the light went out as the Holy Spirit departed from their spirits.

What was Adam’s solution, grab some leaves and cover up…. maybe God won’t notice that His light is no longer in us.

Jesus came to turn His light back on within those who put their faith in His shed blood to pay the penalty for sin.

He declared Himself to be the Light of the world, and then He told His followers that they too were the light of the world.

How can this be?

Very simply, because His Light is in us, He shines His Light through us to all those around us.

The question is, “How brightly is His Light shining through us?”

What inhibits His Light?  Our flesh.

When we try to live the Christian life in our own strength, His light is suppressed.

People see us instead of Him.

But, when we choose to humble ourselves before Him, set aside our own efforts and allow Him to live through us, people can’t help but see His light and are drawn toward Him.

Paul calls us to live as lights in the midst of darkness.

He was so right:

“we live in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation.”

Shining brightly for Jesus means living out of His Life in us.

Only then will we be empowered to walk uprightly before Him in order to show others the way of life in Him.

Blessings!
