Philippians 2:9-11 “Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
The result of Jesus’ humbling Himself and taking the form of a man in order to reconcile us to the Father through His death on the cross was His exaltation. Jesus is now sitting at the right hand of the Father in a position of complete authority and power. The Father made His name the greatest of all names. When the name of Jesus is spoken, no other name can overcome what He says. No angelic being, human being or demonic being has power or authority greater than Jesus’ power and authority. There will be a day at the final judgment that every being will acknowledge that Jesus is Lord of all to the glory of God the Father. What a relief it is to know that Jesus has already won the greatest war of all existence! Satan has lost! He never stood a chance!
In the early chapters of Job, we see Satan reporting into the throne room of heaven. In each case, he is subservient to Jesus and cannot do whatever he wants to do Job. Satan could only work within the parameters that Jesus established. Satan thought he could destroy Job’s faith through loss and illness. In reality, God turned Satan’s strategies for Job’s destruction into His tools to tear down Job’s self-righteousness and rebuild a genuine faith based on God’s grace and mercy. So, in the end all of Satan’s attacks failed, and God’s will prevailed in Job’s life.
Beloved, we live in troubling times. There is chaos in the Middle East, Europe and here at home. It is easy to let anxiety grip our hearts and minds. Remember who our Savior is and that all authority and power belong to Him. There is no political leader more powerful than Jesus. History is really His Story. He is the One writing it…He has written it. Make the time to read His Word, to dwell on it, and His peace will guard your hearts and minds no matter what storms are raging around you!
