As I write this blog, the Super Bowl will be played tomorrow and I am rooting for the Chiefs.
I am a big Eagles fan and had my moment of glory in Super Bowl LI when we beat the New England Patriots, 41–33!
I may never see another one after seeing the mess of the 2020 season.
There are two reasons for me rooting for the Chiefs:
- Andy Reid used to coach the Eagles and gave us many good years and
- I am not a fan of Tom Brady.
The Super Bowl speaks of the ultimate victory.
This time each year should be a reminder to us as believers that we can live a Super Bowl life every day.
The first thing we need to be reminded of is that Jesus Christ is our Super Bowl Champion.
Revelation 5:5 says,
“Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory.”
This victory that Christ won over our enemies was won on the cross.
Colossians 2:15 says,
“In this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by His victory over them on the cross.”
The second thing we need to be reminded of is that His victory is our victory because we have been identified with Christ is His death, burial, resurrection and ascension (Rom. 6:1-14, Gal. 2:20, Eph. 2:6).
Just like I got excited when the Eagles won the Super Bowl, so we, as believers, should get much more excited about the victory that is ours already in Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57 says,
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 5:17 says,
“But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.”
We should be praising God every day for His wonderful grace to us in giving us Christ’s righteousness, because His victory is ours over the power of sin and death.
The third thing we need to be reminded of is that the victory over the power of sin in this life is by faith in our Victorious Savior.
2 Corinthians 2:14 says,
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ.”
1 John 5:4 puts it this way,
“For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.”
When you read this blog, the Super Bowl will be over and one team will be victorious and declared World Champions.
We are already victorious because of our World Champion, Jesus Christ!
May we by faith claim His victory moment-by-moment and then we can live a Super Bowl Life!
“But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loves us.”
Blessings!
