Have you ever entertained the question, “If God is so good and loving, why does He allow pain in my life?”
The Problem of Pain has been addressed by many scholars, including C.S. Lewis.
I am not going to pretend to have THE answer.
I am going to give you a bit of a perspective on the issue that the enemy doesn’t want us to see.
You see the reality of pain in this world actually affirms the holiness of God.
If I was only allowed to use one word to describe God, I would choose the word Holy.
He is wholly without sin.
Nothing misses the mark in Him.
He is pure, righteous, and without blemish.
His creation, including Adam and Eve, was the same way, and they enjoyed their relationship and fellowship with Him.
This relationship happened because of holiness.
There was no pain in this world.
Then, along comes the serpent, and we know that Adam and Eve chose erroneously.
They missed the mark and sinned.
Their human nature became corrupted; they were no longer holy.
They could no longer have a relationship or fellowship with the Holy One who made them.
They were driven from His Presence.
A sad day indeed.
Pain entered into the world, not by God’s choice, but by man’s choice.
Choices have consequences.
We all know this to be true.
However, like Adam and Eve, we are prone to blame shift to God.
Pain comes into our lives not because of God, but because of sin.
Sometimes we feel pain as a result of others’ choices; that’s not fun.
Sometimes, we feel pain because we have bodies that get sick…. also not fun.
Satan rarely misses an opportunity to blame God for pain when in reality pain is Satan’s fault in conjunction with Adam and Eve.
Jesus told us that in this world we will have hardships and pain.
He also told us to take courage, because He has overcome the pain.
He did so on the cross where He Himself took on our grief and pain.
Beloved, don’t fall for Satan’s lie that pain is God’s fault.
It’s Satan’s fault.
Get mad at him.
Thank the Lord that He Himself will carry both you and your pain and give you healing in its place.
Blessings!
