The Spirit-Filled Life

By December 8, 2014Uncategorized

What does the Spirit-filled life really look like?

Some Christians would say that the only evidence of being Spirit-filled is speaking in tongues like the disciples did in Acts 2.

Is it really?

Why then, didn’t Paul include speaking in tongues in his list of fruits in Galatians 5:22?

You see, Paul said that the fruit of the Spirit is love (agape), joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

I wonder if some folks prefer to emphasize the gifts of the Spirit over the fruit of the Spirit because ‘doing’ appeals to the flesh!

If I just do x, y, z, then look at me, I’m Spirit-filled!

Which is easier for the flesh to imitate: doing or being?

Satan can and has used peoples’ flesh to imitate spiritual gifts.  There are false tongues, false prophets, false healers, etc.

But, he cannot fake the fruits of the Spirit.

Why? Because they are the direct result of a life connected to the Source of Life: Jesus.

In this week’s Nugget of Truth video, I share how being Spirit-filled is evidenced by the fruits of the Spirit that grow in our lives, as we learn to rest and receive Jesus’ Life in us and allow Him to express Himself through us.

Blessings!
