Battle Strategy: Intercession

As we wrap up our little series on spiritual warfare, I want to focus on intercession for others.

Not only do we have the authority to rebuke and reclaim ground in our own lives but we can do the same for those under our watch.

Here’s what I mean.

Warfare prayer has an impact in the courts of heaven which are ongoing.

The enemy assigns one of his colleagues to act as a prosecuting attorney to dispute the Not Guilty verdict that God has ruled for us because of our faith in Jesus.

The best example of this is found in the opening chapters of Job where his accuser disputes God’s ruling of ‘righteous’ on Job’s case.

Likewise, we have accusing spirits appealing God’s verdict in heaven because of our wrong choices on earth.

Not only can we silence these accusations on our own behalf, but we can do so for others who allow us to represent them before the Righteous Judge.

With their permission, we can co-advocate with Jesus for them.

We can do this for anyone we are tied to, like a child or spouse, and we can do this for anyone who gives us permission to pray for them.

In essence, they are hiring us to represent them in court, so to speak.

In my experience, this intercession will loosen the grip that the enemy has in their life and make their repentance and freedom occur.

It sounds something like this:

“Righteous Judge, I come humble before You in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ as His co-advocate on behalf of (name the person).  I ask that his/her accuser be called into this court hearing and that they accurately state their accusations against (name the person).  (Allow the Lord Jesus to relate what they state in your mind).  On (name the person)’s behalf, I plead Guilty as charged.  On his/her behalf, I testify that they have placed their faith in the shed blood of the Lamb to pay for their sin.  I ask that grace and mercy be applied to them on earth as it has already been applied in heaven.  How do You rule, Your honor?  Thank You.  I ask that an eviction notice be written against these accusing spirits to go into immediate effect in his/her life.  Thank You for their freedom. Amen.”

Personally, I have seen quick and powerful impacts in lives with these intercessory prayers.

I know it will sound strange to most, but it will really loosen the grip of the accusing spirits that assault us and make the reality of our freedom in heaven an experiential reality on earth.

Blessings!
