Ministry News
Greetings in the name of our blessed Savior and Lord Jesus Christ! I hope you had a wonderful Summer with your families and had a chance to take a vacation break. It’s been a busy time of ministry, and I am back teaching a Bible Study Skills class on Wednesday evenings.
Please continue to pray for more SC clients. One lady that connected with me months ago has resumed counseling with me, and has made progress quickly in experiencing her freedom in Christ. I am praying that more referrals come in from those that I’ve connected with at local churches who know me.
On a personal note, I developed an ulnar nerve impingement in my left arm (I am left-handed) which can be quite painful. Thankfully, I have friends with physical therapy experience, and they have given me some stretches to do. Also, I was diagnosed with dairy and gluten allergies. Eliminating dairy has been the hardest…. think Cheesesteaks and pizza. I have found some acceptable substitutes, but eating out is very limited. Please pray for healing from both. Thank you!
Testimony Time
Alice had been through severe sexual abuse as a child and into her teen years. This left her deeply broken hearted and taught her to compartmentalize experiences and relationships to survive. It also left her with some unholy spiritual companions.
Together with the Holy Spirit, we’ve been working on healing at a pace she can handle. She is breaking off agreements and soul ties that allowed unholy spirits to have ground in her life. These changes are not easy, but the Holy Spirit is so patient, kind and gentle in how He binds up the broken hearted to bring healing.
Like Alice, we get really comfortable with our Flesh Patterns, even the ones that are debilitating. Familiarity brings comfort, even if there also is pain. The best the world can offer is therapy that upgrades Flesh to more socially acceptable patterns.
But God…. He offers to give us a whole new us! Our life is now intertwined with His Life in us. We can put off the old Flesh Patterns and put on the mind of Christ—the way Jesus sees us, complete in Him, lacking nothing!
I pray that each of us, no matter what heartbreak we’ve experienced, can learn to put off our ways of handling life in our own strength and instead, to partner with Holy Spirit in seeing ourselves and others as He sees us and allow Him to express Himself through us to those around us.
Journey Tools Update
We have two Journey Tools Groups going now. Karen Myers is leading one, and I am leading a group full of ministry leaders. Both are off to a great start!
We are working on developing a Christian Employee Assistance Program (EAP) network of counselors. I will be reaching out to other Exchanged Life offices to invite them to be referrals for the network. We also hope to equip them with the Journey Tools, as the Lord leads.
ELM Finances
Thank you so much to all of you who made donations this Summer! While finances are tight, our bills are paid. Praise God!
Your generosity has been an encouragement to me. Remember that your donations make it possible for me to offer reduced rates to those in need.
Please be praying that the Lord brings in more regular donors to make up for the loss of support from my former home church in PA.
Please pray that the Lord shows me the best way to connect with local churches here in Greenwood for support and client referrals.
Your tax deductible donation can be made to ELM and you can do so by check or by going to the Donation page of our website at www.elmphilly.com/donate.
