What’s one of the best parts of a wedding?

Seeing the bride enter and walk toward her groom all arrayed in her beautiful white dress and veil.

Imagine your shock if the bride appeared all dirty and sweaty, dressed in her gardening clothes!

Her groom would be offended and hurt by her disrespect for him and the solemnness of the ceremony.

Musician, Kristian Stanfill sings, Even So, Come, and every time I hear it on the radio, it inspires me to worship.

The chorus goes:

“Like a bride waiting for her groom, we’ll be a church ready for You; every heart longing for our King, we sing, even so, come, Lord Jesus, come.”

This messages resonates within me.

Why? Simply, because Jesus is my Groom.

I long for Him to come and take me to the home He’s been preparing for me, so that I can live with Him.

In Revelation 19, we get a glimpse of the Wedding Feast of the Lamb and His church, us.

This is going to be the most amazing celebration unlike any wedding reception ever held on earth!

In Biblical days, the wedding feast marked the culmination of a long process of uniting a couple as husband and wife.

The road to marriage took a far different path for the Jewish couple in New Testament times than it does for couples in our culture.

The time between betrothal and the wedding feast varied.

The family would send out two invitations; one well in advance to announce the pending nuptials, and one when the arrangements were in place and the feast was set to begin.

On the Jewish wedding day, the groom along with his friends would go to the bride’s home at a time unbeknownst to her and whisk her away with her attendants to bring them all back to the wedding feast location.

While awaiting her groom, the bride adorned herself in clothing provided by the host of the feast.

Once they reached his home, the festivities began and continued for a whole week.

Do you see the imagery?

Are you prepared for His coming?

Are you clothed in the righteousness of Christ which is received by faith in His shed blood?

I’m ready; even so, COME quickly Lord Jesus!

Blessings!
