How does it make you feel when God answers your prayers with a ‘Yes!’?
It’s pretty awesome!
The Apostle Paul prays for the saints in Ephesus that the eyes of their heart would be enlightened to intimately know the hope of His calling, the riches of their inheritance as saints in Christ Jesus and the surpassing power that is available to them in Jesus.
He uses the phrase eyes of your heart.
What does he mean?
Obviously, our hearts don’t have literal eyes.
The heart is the seat of life… no heartbeat, no life.
Jesus said that where our treasure is there will our heart be also.
What makes your heart get excited?
What do you think will make you happy?
For some, it’s a new car or a relationship or a new house or an exciting vacation.
What you think will give you life is what you will pursue.
You will seek to align with it.
Paul challenges us to align with the only One who can truly give us life.
The things of this world: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes the boastful pride of life always rob us of life.
Jesus came to give us access to resurrection life.
The very power that brought about the resurrection of Jesus is the power that is available to every believer.
The key to unleashing this power is to align with His will for us and His life in us.
In the Gospel of John chapter 5, Jesus repeats the concept that He only does what they Father showed Him to do.
If we get caught up seeking life or setting the eyes of our heart on the horizontal plane of this world, we will quickly get out of alignment with Jesus.
Our prayers will be unfruitful.
Beloved, nothing here on this earth can bring us true joy.
Joy comes from Him alone.
He loves you so very much simply because you are His child, His image-bearer.
He wants you to know His will.
So, be in His Word.
Let Him speak to you through it.
Let Him speak in your spirit through the Holy Spirit.
He will give you insight into God’s plan and the enemy’s strategies.
He will show you how to pray in alignment with His will.
Take Paul’s prayers for the churches and pray them for your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Pray for the will of God decreed in heaven to also be enforced here on earth.
Persevere in prayer in alignment with His will.
Blessings!
