Did you ever notice that you don’t have to teach a kid to sin?

They do it naturally.

All you have to do is say, “don’t” and sure enough the power of sin kicks in and says in their little minds, “do it, do it, do it.”

Folks, this is what slavery to sin looks like from the moment of birth.

Thanks to Adam’s choice, every person is born a slave to sin.

It has infected our human nature and disconnected us from Papa.

You see, Papa is holy so no sinner can enter His presence without His condemnation.

But, Papa made us to be His family and members of His Divine Council.

So, once Adam made his fateful choice Papa put His redemption plan in motion.

Through the seed of the woman, Papa sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place and pay the penalty for sin.

As a result, when we choose to put our faith in Jesus, we are taken out of Adam’s family, crucified with Christ and reborn as members of Jesus’ family.

But, what happened when we were crucified?

We died to sin, setting us free from the power of sin but not its presence.

I liken it to being born into the military with sin as our commanding officer.

When sin barked an order in our minds, we jumped to obedience.

Paul described it as being a slave to sin.

We had no choice but to follow its orders all the way into bondage.

But, thanks be to God, our co-crucifixion with Jesus has broken our chains and sin’s power over us.

We no longer have a relationship with sin.

However, it is still present in our bodies.  It can still pump thoughts of accusation, temptation and deception through our minds.

As Paul exhorts us, it is our responsibility to catch our thoughts, and test them against truth.

When we think on truth, there is no room for sin’s suggestions, and we live free from the bondage of sin.

Someday soon, we will be completely free from sin’s presence when we receive our glorified bodies.

What a day that will be!

In the meantime, freedom from sin’s tyranny has already been won for us.

Beloved, when sin assaults your mind, remind it that you’ve been crucified, it’s Jesus that is now your Master and He now fights your battles.

This quiets sin so fast it’s amazing!

Thank you, Jesus, for setting us free from sin, and whom the Son sets free, is free indeed!

Blessings!
