Last week, I shared about a ministry that uses natural horsemanship to teach the Exchanged Life truths.

It started me thinking about two ways to break a horse.

One uses pain and fear to break the will of the horse, so that they comply with the person.

The other patiently engages the horse in a language they understand, in order to build trust, so that the horse sees that it is safe to follow the person’s lead.

Beloved, God is not in breaking our will through pain and fear.

He is interested in showing us that He is always safe to trust and follow.

Does this mean that He never introduces the pain of discipline into our lives?

No, it means that His discipline, though painful, is done out of love for us, to teach us that following Him is always best for us.

Know this: Satan is always seeking to undermine our trust in God’s intentions.

He will introduce accusing thoughts into our minds to undermine our faith in God’s love and to convince us to decide what’s best for ourselves.

Beloved, we need to tenaciously cling to the truth that God declared: God is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness.

While following God’s lead is not pain-free, it is always the best and safest choice we can make.

God is not seeking to break our will; He is seeking to reveal his trustworthiness to us, so that we will gladly choose to follow His lead in this dance called life.

Blessings!
