Have you ever struggled with feeling like God is just soooo disappointed with you?

Like He’s just shaking His head in frustration with your failures?

Beloved, that is all a ploy from Satan!

God is never disappointed with anyone!  Why?

His expectations of us are totally based on what He already knows we are going to do.

Disappointment is the result of hoping for something, but getting something else that you didn’t want.

Like, I was hoping that the Phillies would have a great season, but the reality is that they currently have the worst record in baseball.  That’s disappointing to me.

Think about this: Jesus had just finished the Passover meal with His disciples by telling them that one of them was going to betray Him.

Peter swears that he would die for Jesus’ sake.

Jesus then tells Peter that he was in fact going to deny that he even knows Him three times before the cock crows.

It plays out just as Jesus told Peter it would.

In Luke’s account, we are told that Jesus looked at Peter right after his third denial which reminded Peter of Jesus’ words, and he wept over his failure.

I don’t think Jesus’ look was one of disappointment, anger or grief.

I think Jesus looked on Peter with tremendous love and compassion.

You see, Jesus also knew who Peter was going to become once the Holy Spirit came upon him.

Peter was the rock upon which Jesus would build His church.

He was the novice preacher who would preach one sermon and see over 3,000 souls added to the church in one day!

After His resurrection, Jesus speaks words of restoration to Peter’s soul, as He shows him that he really did love Jesus.

Peter would go on to feed and tend Jesus’ sheep as evidence of his love.

Beloved, God already knows everything you are ever going to do.

He is never disappointed with you, because His expectations are always based on reality.

He knows you are IN CHRIST.  He delights in you!

He feels compassion for you and extends love and grace toward you.

He longs for you to learn to rest in His love and grace and to live out of who He has made you to be IN HIM.

Stop listening to the enemy’s accusations and reminders of past failures.

Start listening to the Holy Spirit as He leads you in following your loving Savior, Jesus Christ!

Blessings!
