And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Cor. 12:9-10
In the daily routine of life, we must learn to boast in our weaknesses and glory in His strength. When faced with temptation we must cry out, “I can’t beat this Lord, but You can. The battle belongs to You. Fight on my behalf.” When we pray this, we will find that the level of temptation will drop significantly. When we adopt the attitude of giving the battle to the Lord, we will slay the giant – just like David did in his battle against Goliath.
It is vital that we not stop with “I can’t Lord.” That is just rotten negative thinking. We have to follow with the positive faith statement, “but You can.” Negative thinking leads to negative actions or just plain old inaction. Setting our minds on the positive truth that Jesus is supplying the strength to accomplish the task or fight the battle through me is the key to living victoriously.
When we submit to doing the Lord’s will in His strength, He is pleased with us and considers our actions successful, even if the world deems us as failures. Remember by the world’s standards Jesus was a failure. He did not own anything but the clothes on His back; His followers were uneducated nobodies who deserted Him in the end; He died on the cross. The world was not impressed and still isn’t. In fact, the world uses His name as a curse word. Beloved, we need to measure ourselves by God’s standards of success and not the world’s standards. God’s standards are based on truth; the world’s standards are based on lies that only feel true. Learn to do all things in His strength and for His glory. Boast in your weakness; glory in His strength!
