Over the last year or so, the Lord has been teaching me about the legal systems in heaven.
As a result, legal terms jump off the page at me, while before, I never processed these terms with a court room in mind.
Let me show you.
Revelation 12:10-11 states,
“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night. And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.'”
Our Adversary seeks to build a case against us in order to keep us from walking in the victory and freedom that is ours in Christ Jesus.
He is seeking to prosecute a case against us in order to incarcerate us in bondage to sin.
The Apostle Paul exhorts us in Ephesians 4:26-27,
“Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity.”
The Greek word for opportunity is topos.
It is the same root word for topography….ground.
Unresolved anger that is not given over through forgiveness gives the Adversary that legal ground to build a case against us which in turn can result in bondage.
Consider Jesus’ illustration of the man who was forgiven this great debt, but then in turn refused to forgive the small debt owed by his fellow servant.
A case was built against him and when his master heard testimony of what he did, he was thrown into prison until his debt was paid in full.
Beloved, how do we overcome our Adversary?
First, we allow the Holy Spirit to search us and to show us where the Adversary has legal standing in our lives to launch accusations at us.
Then, we process through any confess, renounce and reclaim prayers that we need to do.
Next, we come before our Righteous Judge and plead guilty as charged by the Adversary.
We offer testimony of our faith in the finished work of the cross and resurrection of Jesus.
We plead the blood of the Lamb over our sins, iniquities and transgression and ask for grace and mercy to be applied.
This is how we do battle against our Adversary who is constantly seeking ways to entrap us.
Beloved, as we submit to our Righteous Judge and testify of our faith in the blood of Jesus, we will emerge victorious from every legal case the enemy brings against us.
Blessings!
