Does knowing our enemy’s basic strategies, give us an advantage?
Absolutely!
Satan has some basic strategies that he has been using quite effectively ever since his encounter with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
- Target and exploit a weakness
- Use that weakness to create doubt in God’s trustworthiness
- Lead us to rely on our own understanding to decide what is ‘good’ for us
- BOOM! He’s got us hook, line, and sinker
In this week’s Nugget of Truth video, I review the details of how Satan exploited Eve’s inaccurate recollection of God’s Word about the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Satan led Eve to violate the principles of Proverbs 3:5,6:
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Now, I know she did not have these verses memorized, but she was doomed the moment she stopped trusting in God’s Word.
Leaning on our own understanding instead of God’s is always going to result in evil….bad consequences.
Beloved, God always loves us… He always wants what’s good for us.
In fact He promises to “withhold no good thing from him who walks uprightly.” (Psalm 84:11)
Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at how Satan uses Temptation, Accusation and Deception to undermine our trust in God, to get us to rely on our own understanding and to figure things out apart from God.
So, being aware of Satan’s strategies should give us the advantage, but only if we have a growing, intimate relationship with God.
I hope you will take a few minutes to view the video and allow the Spirit to encourage you through it!
Remember, we are seated In Christ at the right hand of the Father in a position of victory!
Blessings!
