How does a parent typically respond to question, “When are we getting there?”

“SOON”

But, what does SOON really mean?  Standing alone, SOON is the most meaningless word in our vocabulary.

It could mean 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 1 week, 1 year, 2,000 years!

In truth, SOON means, “Be patient.  Just wait, but be sure that it’s going to happen.”

At the end of Jesus’ Revelation to John, there’s a dialogue between Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the church.

Both the Spirit and the church (believers) express their earnest desire for Jesus to come.

Jesus’ reply was, “Yes, I am coming quickly.”

Earlier in Revelation in His letter to the church of Philadelphia, Jesus makes the same statement as an encouragement to a church that was going through tremendous persecution.

He basically is telling them to hang in there; He’s coming SOON.

The Greek word for quickly is tachus, and it can be translated using several similar English words, one of which is SOON.

The super blood moon was last night, and there’s been a whole lot of speculation about it being an end times sign of the Lord’s return or that something BIG is coming.

This may be the case still, but what I want us to consider is the impact of the imminence of Jesus’ return on our everyday life choices.

We know that Jesus is coming for His bride, the Church.

And, we know that it could happen at any moment.

His return will be quick and sudden.

It will catch the world off guard.

But, it should not catch His Bride off guard.

We should live expecting Jesus to come SOON and SUDDENLY.

With this in mind, Peter writes, “How then should we live?”

Instead of speculating on dates and signs, we should be cultivating an intimate, dependent relationship with our Husband, Jesus Christ.

I am not saying we should ignore studying End Times Prophecy.

I am saying that we should live in a way that pleases Him: loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and loving our neighbor as ourselves.

Beloved, Jesus is coming quickly, suddenly, and SOON for us!

I know that 2,000 years doesn’t seem SOON, but in the context of eternity, it is.

Let’s set our minds every morning on the thought of His imminent return, allow Him to lead us and strength us in all that we do, and we will be more than ready to meet Him in the air!

Maranatha!  Lord Jesus come SOON!

Blessings!
