If Christians are transformed from sinners to saints when they are ‘born again’, then why do Christians still sin?
That is a reasonable and logical question to ask.
In Romans 7, the Apostle Paul expressed his frustration by writing, “the very thing I want to do, I don’t do; the very thing that I don’t want to do, that’s what I do….Who will save me from the body of this death?”
His answer: “Thanks be to our God, through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Beloved, remember that we are three parts in one: body, soul, and spirit.
The moment we are born again by repenting of sin and receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior, is the same moment that our spirit is made holy.
The Holy Spirit takes up residence in my spirit and reconnects me to the Source of Life and reveals to me the thoughts (or mind) of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit puts His thoughts into my mind in order to comfort, guide, instruct, chasten and encourage me.
However, if I set my mind on my flesh (how I learned to seek to get my needs met apart from Jesus), I will not be able to effectively hear the Holy Spirit.
It’s only when I choose to reset my mind (tune into Jesus) by setting my mind on the truth that life isn’t about me, it’s about Christ living His life through me, that I will develop the ability to recognize the voice of Jesus speaking through the Holy Spirit in my human spirit.
It’s a little like choosing to turn the TV station from Channel Self to Channel Jesus.
It’s my responsibility to set my mind on Jesus; no one can do it for me.
In this week’s Nugget of Truth video, I share some practical ways to reset our mind each morning so that we are tuned into the mind of Christ in us.
I hope it encourages you and that you will share it with your friends.
Blessings!
