If you had to choose between receiving advice or receiving wisdom, which would you choose?

Now you might think that there’s not much difference between advice and wisdom, but there is.

Advice is merely one person sharing their opinion with another.

Wisdom is what aligns us with the will of God.

I recently read a quote from AW Tozer that basically stated that the reason so many Christians do not hear God speak in their spirit in conjunction with His Word is that they have already decided not to do what He says.

Beloved, one of the keys to hearing His voice is to first decide ahead of time that you are going to do what He says no matter what.

I was reading in Isaiah and a verse popped off the page at me.

It is Isaiah 48:17:

“This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.'”

So, often the Lord would show me His will and I would filter it through my likes and dislikes and make a counter offer.

Not smart.

I do not, as smart as I am, know what’s best for me.

Only He does.

Wisdom always chooses God’s path.

Jonah knew God wanted him to go to  Nineveh.

What did he do?

He high tailed it in the opposite direction and put innocent lives at risk.

What was the result?

He got a first class ticket on the whale express.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that what God has for me could possibly be worse or more painful that spending three days in the bowels of a whale only to be puked up on the beach.

The first lesson in wisdom is: get wisdom….not advice.

We do not filter God’s wisdom; we obey it.

If you want to know His presence, His joy, His peace then get wisdom.

Study Proverbs; be in the Word; fear God.

Allow Him to instruct you on how to choose His best for you.

Don’t settle for okay; seek His wisdom.

Ask Him for wisdom.

James tells us that He is always ready to give us wisdom as long as we are single minded and asking in faith.

Beloved, stop seeking advice; start pursuing wisdom with a heart that is ready to obey in faith.

Trust in the Lord with all of you heart; lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Blessings!
