The Power of Grace

trees with sun shining

For those of us who grew up singing classic hymns, we often sang about the power of the Blood, but have you ever considered that grace is also powerful?

In Ephesians 2, the Apostle Paul contrasts who we were before and after grace.

Before grace, we were dead in our trespasses and sins, we lived life according to the course of this world whose dictator is Satan, whose spirit is even now controlling the minds of the unbelievers.

We used to make choices driven by indulging the lusts of our flesh, and we were by nature children of wrath because we inherited sin from Adam.

But GOD…what powerful words….but God.  What did He do?

He unleashed His grace on us!  That’s what He did.

When we put our faith in the blood of Jesus to pay for our sins, He poured out His grace upon us and forgave our sins.

Then, He crucified who we were in Adam (sinner), and buried us with Christ and He raised us up together (that’s a key word) with Christ and seated us with Him in heaven at the right hand of Abba.

It is God’s grace that has co-mingled our lives with His life.

He put us together with Jesus.

It is the very life of Jesus that makes us new in Him….saints…holy ones who are set apart from sin and unto God.

Grace has made us pass away to the old sin controlled nature and to be born again to our new Christ nature that is 100% free from the control of sin.

If that isn’t good enough, it’s grace that co-mingles us with Christ, so that we are positioned right where God positioned Jesus….at God’s right hand, seated in victory over sin, the world, and Satan.

Beloved, stand amazed at grace!

It has transformed us from sinners to saints; it has freed us from the world, our flesh, and Satan; and it has established us in total victory over Satan and his minions.

Grace has knit our lives together with the life of Jesus.

We are interwoven with Him.  Nothing can break that knit!

Beloved, grace is not a free pass to sin; it is freedom from the power of sin.

When we walk in God’s grace by the power of the Holy Spirit through the very life of Christ in us, we put off the lusts of the flesh and put on the mind of Jesus.

Jesus did nothing apart from the Father.

Whatever Jesus did, the Holy Spirit was His power source.

We can live each day like Jesus did, totally dependent on God empowered by the Holy Spirit.

So, beloved, marvel at the power of God’s grace, and allow Jesus to express His life in you and through you for His glory!

Blessings!
