What comes to mind when you hear the phrase ‘being Spirit led?’
Maybe it makes you uncomfortable because you are of a denomination that does not even really teach or speak of the Holy Spirit.
Maybe, if you’re from a more Pentacostal background, you associate it with speaking in tongues, a word of knowledge or prophetic word.
Papa used Isaiah to rebuke the people of Judah for looking to an alliance with Egypt to save them instead of looking to Him.
Then, He called them to repent and rest in His salvation as they quietly trusted Him for direction.
Papa promised to direct their steps,
“Your ears will hear a word behind you, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right or to the left” (Isaiah 31:21).
This echoes the famous proverb that exhorts us to:
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart; lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
There was no one better at this than Jesus.
His mindset was always one of trust and dependence on Papa, and the Spirit was always upon Him leading His every step.
Now, maybe you think, “Great, but that was Jesus. How does that help me?”
Well, guess who lives in your skin? Right, Jesus.
So, the same mindset of trust and dependence is possible for us too.
Where do we get tripped up?
First and foremost, like Judah, we tend to want to trust in human alliances instead of our God.
Why? Humans are tangible. God isn’t as easy to see.
So, fear is used to plunge us into unbelief and cause us to figure things out ourselves.
Our flesh is also a huge roadblock.
The lusts of the flesh scream “feed me,” and it is so easy for us to indulge them instead of rest and receive satisfaction from Papa.
Another problem is impatience.
We want to know the left and rights well in advance when oftentimes God wants us to wait for His timing which can tick down to the last second.
How do we overcome these obstacles?
Faith conquers fear.
The key to growing faith is spending time getting to know the object of our faith.
This comes from being in His Word and from learning to dialogue with Him in prayer.
Beloved, being Spirit-led is the result of simply trusting Papa to use the Holy Spirit to establish our thoughts with His thoughts and then depending on His power to do all things through us for His glory.

Thank you for a very good discussion of what for some is a difficult subject. I have set under lots of teachings that do not emphasize the workings of the Holy Spirit, and some that seem to be down right afraid to even mention Him. I have been fortunate that a series of events caused me to dig deeply into Spiritual Giftedness, and happily rely on His guiding me through my daily readings and prayer life. Thank you Lord!!
