Years ago, the noted English agnostic, Thomas Huxley, was in Dublin, Ireland for some speaking engagements.
On one occasion, he left his hotel in a hurry to catch a train, taking one of the city’s famous horse-drawn taxis.
Huxley thought that the doorman at the hotel had told the driver where he was going, so he simply settled back in the cab and told the man at the reins to drive fast.
The driver set off at a furious pace.
In a few minutes, Huxley realized that the cab was headed away from the station.
“Do you know where you’re going?” he shouted to the driver.
“No, your honor,” the driver answered, “but I’m driving fast.”
This illustration really sums up the spirit of our times.
Things are happening at a furious speed, but few in our day really know where they are headed.
As believers, we can know where this world is headed.
I believe the stage is being set and the curtain could go up at any moment, and the Biblical prophecy drama begin.
All the pieces of God’s prophetic puzzle are in place.
The stage is being set for the unfulfilled prophecies to be fulfilled.
There are 5 key prophetic developments to pay attention to:
1) Israel is in the Land as a Nation (Ezekiel 36-37).
On May 14, 1948, Israel became a nation against all odds.
All the prophecies concerning the future hinge on Israel being in the Land.
If there is no Israel in the Land, there is no possibility of the fulfillment of prophecies in Daniel, Ezekiel, Zechariah, and Revelation.
2) The reuniting of the Ancient Roman Empire (Daniel 2:7, Revelation 13:17).
I believe the precursor for this empire is the European Union.
3) The world wide cry for peace in the Middle East (1 Thessalonians 5:1-3).
After the Israeli elections in early April, President Trump is going to unveil his Middle East Peace Plan.
If adopted, it puts in place the plan that Daniel speaks of which will be enhanced by the Antichrist as the leader of the Revived Roman Empire (Daniel 9:27).
This will mark the beginning of 7-year Tribulation Period.
4) The Rise of Globalism.
The Bible prophecies that during the last 3½ years of the Tribulation Period, the Antichrist will implement his one-world government and economy system as seen in Revelation 13 and 17.
5) The continuous war in the Middle East.
These are setting the stage for what the Bible says about the future Tribulation.
We know that this world is not drifting aimlessly on, but is on His time table.
Our personal God is ordering the course of world affairs throughout history, so we can trust Him for our future!
