As we continue our spiritual warfare series, this week we are going to look at the concept of soul ties.
The root of this concept comes from the idea that God spoke of within the bonds of marriage.
The sexual union of a husband and wife is the physical representation of two souls becoming one.
This is why is God stipulated that sexual intimacy needs to be conducted within the bonds of marriage between a man and a woman.
Any sexual activity outside His parameters is going to result in soul ties that the enemy will use against those involved.
I’ve even worked with clients that have had emotional soul ties form through viewing pornography.
The enemy is looking for any doorway into the soul.
Once invited in, he will harass the person in their soul and even in their body.
Sexual intimacy is a covenant act, even if there is no verbal declaration of covenant as in marriage vows.
Once that soul tie happens the enemy will build his stronghold in the mind and even at times in the body and trap the person in bondage to sexual sin, a whole array of lies, and brokenheartedness.
How does a person get free?
Through prayers of confess, renounce, reclaim and remove.
It would go something like this:
“Lord Jesus Christ, I confess participating in unholy sex (against my will if non-consensual) with (name the person), I renounce our sexual relationship and I sever all soul ties that connect us. I plead the blood of the Lamb over our relationship and declare it forgiven. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I reclaim the ground I have given to the enemy through this unholy sex and I command all spirits claiming ground in my life to depart from me and go where the Lord Jesus Christ sends them. I unpartner with (name the person) and I choose to partner with Jesus to be the Lover of my Soul. I am free from (name the person) and all soul ties are severed, for whom the Son has set free, is free indeed. Amen.”
So, ask the Lord to show you any soul ties that need to be broken, and then walk through this prayer format.
