Ministry News

Greetings once again in the name of our blessed Savior and Lord Jesus Christ!  I hope you have enjoyed this Spring and are looking forward to a wonderful Summer.

The Lord has enabled me to juggle my counseling duties with mom’s care.  I am just in my office to counsel and shoot video blogs while  doing most of my administrative work from home to be available to mom.  I am so grateful that my office is 1/4 mile from home!

Pastor Ken and Linda Keeler of ELM Philly led a Couples Retreat called Keeping Our Marriage Vibrant! the weekend of May 4-6 at Camp Hebron in Halifax, PA. They had a great time of teaching and fellowship with folks from his former church in Orwigsburg, PA.  Ken is available to teach several different types of conferences, so take a look at his Speaker page on our website to learn more (www.elmphilly.com/services/speaking).

Thank you for your many kind comments on our Facebook page and blog page on our website.  Both Ken and I really enjoy sharing the wonderful Exchanged Life Truths each week in our Nugget of Truth blogs.  If you haven’t seen them, please take a moment a check out our latest blogs entries.

Testimony Time

Lucy has been through the wringer.  She has more scars on her body from surgeries than anyone could imagine.  After her second knee replacement, she injured her foot. The surgery to repair it was insane, and the recuperation process was even more insane.

Why was God doing this to her?  Was He mad at her?  How could she really trust Him much less have an intimate relationship with Him?  She had experienced rejection from so many key people in her life that trusting someone, especially God, was so hard.

Little did she know that God was going to transform her from the inside out through the surgery and recuperation process.  She was bedridden for months after the surgery, so she had plenty of time to think, pray and read.  We held our sessions by phone, and whenever negative emotions surfaced, we turned to the Lord through Immanuel Healing prayer and cleaned out the toxic memories of rejection and fear.  As a result, she was coming to understand God’s love and acceptance of her in ways she never knew before, but another storm was coming.

Six months after her first surgery, she learned that it failed and that it would have to be redone.  After one day of riding the emotional roller coaster and with great support from her husband, she was able to face it without fear.  She knew that the Lord has a purpose for it.  He reassured her that “He’s got this,” and she has clung to that promise in faith.

While the road to recovery is still a long one, she is learning to draw near to Jesus because He lives in her skin…He feels everything she feels and is able to sustain her in this journey that they are walking together.

Mom (Emma) Update

Thanks for your faithful prayers for mom.  On June4th, Emma celebrated her 90th birthday!  She really enjoyed having my sister, Barb, and her husband. Joe, and their youngest son, Tyler come for her birthday dinner.  We are so grateful to have mom still with us.

Earlier this week, she gave me quite a scare.  After moving from bed to the bathroom toilet, she was extremely short of breath and was close to panicking.  I coached her on her breathing and had her take a puff on her inhaler. The nurse came the next day, and we made to changes to how we get her up which seem to have returned her to her baseline.

Please keep her in your prayers and me too as I face a variety of daily decisions about her care.  Thank you!
