If you’re friends with me on Facebook, you may have seen my post in response to learning that Diary Queen has come up with a Twix Blizzard.

That concept just blows my mind.

Now I know that I don’t need to eat a Twix Blizzard to be happy, but Satan likes to use my flesh to tempt me to get one and eat the whole thing at once.

You see, he still uses the same old strategy that’s worked on humans since the beginning.

The Apostle John describes it as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life.

In each case, Satan deceives us into believing that we can find joy and satisfaction apart from our Papa God.

When we don’t have strong ‘joy’ bonds with our parents, we can easily bond with food instead.

Why?  Because sugar produces a chemical reaction in our brain that mimics joy.

The problem is that we bond with food instead of the One who is the true Source of Joy.

This is true across the board for all other objects of our lust…. money, stuff, sex, drugs, adrenaline…. none of these things satisfy…not even DQ blizzards.

They all leave us wanting more.

The only One who can truly satisfy is Jesus…connecting with Him and His life in us is what produces the fruits of the Spirit, including joy.

The next time you turn to food for joy, stop and picture Jesus eating with you.

This may help you to connect with Him instead of the food, and when you experience Him and His joy, it will be easier to eat a healthy portion instead of overdoing it.

So, if you’re finding yourself tempted by Satan in any of these areas, ask the Lord to show you the lie behind the temptation and have Him speak His truth to it.

This will blow up the lie, and then leave you with the opportunity to connect with Jesus and experience His joy and peace.

Truly, nothing tastes as good as Jesus….He is our Bread of life and our Living Water.

Blessings!

P.S. A friend bought me a small Twix blizzard….the ice cream made the caramel hard, making it difficult to chew…better off eating them separate…. unlike Jesus, it was very disappointing.
